Tell us about your business!

Simone's Room is a mommy and children boutique that caters to just that-- both mom and kids. Not only will you find beautiful, one of a kind gifts, accessories and trendy clothes for kids but also much for moms. There is stylish maternity wear, life coaching/management goods, pregnancy/breast feeding products, easy meal planning for kids/family and much more for moms. We try to stand out from other baby boutiques by offering more than just high priced products for kids but also things to truly help moms in their never ending jobs.

What inspired you to start your business?

Becoming a mom myself inspired me. I first fell in love with baby boutiques and looking for all things unique and pretty for my daughter. I also finally found out for myself just how tough being a mom actually was and searched for goods to simplify my day to day life. Something as simple as a meal planner can save you so much time. Since I have been a business owner my entire professional career, I wanted to put my new passion to work to help other moms.

Describe your typical day at the office!

My typical day at the home office is checking emails. I then act as a webmaster and check all links on my site to see that everything is working correctly. Since this an e-tailer, I look for promotions and other ways to make my store front (home page) more attractive. I gather ideas and promotions for my news letter in order to stay in touch with my email list. I look for other ways to network online such as forums, article and press release submissions, link exchange opportunities and paid advertising. If I have completed all the above and there is still time in the day, I look for more educational e-courses to help me expand and improve my business.

How do you balance work and caring for you?

It is not easy. I am still working on this.  After work and child there is little time for myself. My daughter is 24 months as of Jan 14, 08 and I have the most time for myself when she is at school or during her naps. The best advice I can give a mom is to try your best to be disciplined as hard as it can be sometimes. Stick to a schedule such as: prayer and meditation at 5:00am, 30 minutes on treadmill at 5:30 am, work 9am-5pm, 6:30pm dinner. If you prepare meals over the weekend and freeze them, it is much easier to have dinner on the table quickly when you get home. My site has an ebook that shows you the best way to do this!
